Pei-Hsuan Wang — Portal

Posted on October 8, 2012

Pei-Hsuan Wang uses ceramics as a means of self-examining the construction of identities and cultural meaning.

I think about my place in the world. A body that exists in between spaces, crossing borders that determine nations and personhoods. Since my arrival in America, I have come to understand the powers that defined me and in turn, my agency that gave the external realm meaning. I recognize my own alienation and question the supposed Other-ness in my experience. My work becomes a self-examining site where the construction of identities and cultural meaning can happen.

Pei-Hsuan Wang is studying Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
