Max Thompson — Recent Works

Posted on May 7, 2012

Ahead of Issue Two of Overcoat, the immensely talented illustrator, Max Thompson shares some recent work with us.

I always freeze up upon peoples requests to describe my artwork.
Painting personal pieces for me is a way to relax at the end of the day after selling my sole to commercial illustration.
Working professionally as an illustrator means your work is normally based around a point, direction or some fundamental idea that’s easily digestible to your audience.
My personal paintings are my own little rebelion to this in the sense that the are largely just cosmetic.  I like pretty pictures.

Max Thompson studied a Bachelor of Graphic Design majoring in Illustration at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). More of his work will be featured in Issue Two of Overcoat.
