Kyla McCallum — The Sonobe Collection

Posted on August 24, 2012

Kyla McCallum uses origami folding techniques to create a limited collection of modular lampshades.

This series was inspired by an old origami folding technique. Each light fitting is constructed using hand-folded, modular segments. Lamps of various shapes and sizes are created by slotting the identical elements together in different ways. The lampshades are a limited collection handmade by Kyla McCallum, a Scottish designer who runs a studio called Foldability based in Glasgow and London. The series will be for sale during the London Design Festival from the 19th-23rd of September at the Designersblock pop-up shop in the Southbank Centre.

Kyla McCallum studied a Master of European Design (User-based product, service and system design) at the Glasgow School of Art.
