Karina FitzGerald — Lonely Clown

Posted on April 16, 2013

Karina FitzGerald explores the notion of loss juxtaposed with brightness of colour and prop.

An expressive piece understanding the notion of loss, as the subject is in bright vibrant colours, dressed in a clown suit he would be expected to be happy, but his face make-up is smudged, conveying a lonely, sad emotive. The prop used in this image is a symbol of his loss, as the way he clenches the flower, it is a means of not wanting to let go. The lighting is directed onto the models face, although it was essential the whole flower was lit.

Karina FitzGerald studied a Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) at Swinburne University of Technology.
