Fiona McGurk — Recent Works

Posted on July 20, 2012

Fiona McGurk works through practical strategies and how environments interact when creating her varied art works.

Notions of accumulation, connection, interplay and context inform my work.
I look at the world and always begin by drawing.  Ideas are developed through a range of practical strategies; painting, collage, photography, objects.  I work intuitively, reacting to work as it is being produced, ‘testing’ it in different environments and in relation to other works.
The placement of these works or images, one in relation to another is significant, suggesting equivalences between one fragment next to another, rather than one thing after another.

Fiona McGurk studied a Bachelor of Art with Honours (Painting) at the Edinburgh College of Art.
