Emily Toomey — Studies of Figure and Line
Posted on March 14, 2014
Emily Toomey explores the linearity of the human art form.
As someone with a dual interest in mathematics and art, I aspire to explore the linearity of the fluid human form through emphasis of certain geometric qualities and angles. Working in both acrylic and oil, I painted both myself, family members, and models to understand the shapes that comprise a person from all levels of familiarity. Inspiration stems most strongly from Cezanne, Picasso, and Sargent.
