Beyond the Willows

Photographer Kristina Yenko shares some of her beautiful fashion portraiture.

Photography for me is something that has developed along with me through life and is in fluctuations of change and improvement. It is more than just a hobby, it’s a complete creative transformation and envisage. I live and breathe photography. My eyes capture moments of my every day, and its in those times that I wish I had an internal camera. I remember spending nights in winter hunting for haunting moonlight to photograph portraits — that’s how I got started — and pleading friends and family for a picture, or two. I have only started doing fashion in 2011, so it has been a rough year of many mistakes, and many life lessons learnt. At the moment, I have only been working with ethereal natural light, I have yet to try professional lighting equipment! At nineteen, I have a million miles to go. But the hardest part, in my opinion, is diving in the deep end and taking the first step.

Kristina Yenko studies a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Photography) at the University of Technology in Sydney.
